CIRQUE DU FREAK

Main characters:
Darren Shan, Steve Leopard, Mr. Crepsley

Summary
Darren and Steve are the best friends. One day, one of their friends got a flyer, titled “CIRQUE DU FREAK”. There are four boys wanted to go to the show, but only two tickets they got. Finally, Darren got one of tickets by his sixth sense and Steve got the other one. In the freak show, there were Sive and Seersa—the twisting twins, The Snake Boy, The Wolf Man, Gertha Teeth, Larten Grepsley and his performing spider—Madam Octa, Alexander Ribs, The Bearded Lady, Hans Hands, and Rhamus Twobellies—world’s fattest man. The freak show is excited and horrible. After the show, Steve asked Darren go home himself first, but Darren stayed secretly to see what Steve wanted to do. Amazed, Steve found that Mr. Crepsley is a vampire and asked him let Steve becomes a vampire, too. However, Mr. Crepsley refused him, and Steve swore with angry that he would be a vampire hunter and kill Mr. Crepsley. Darren loved spiders, and he was eager for Madam Octa, Mr. Crepsley’s spider. He stole her from the vampire successfully and found that he can train her as successful as Mr. Crepsely. When he showed her to Steve, Madam Octa bit Steve accidentally and Steve was dying. To save Steve’s life, Darren asked Mr. Crepsley for help and promised that if Mr. Crepsley could save Steve, he would be his vampire assistant. He didn’t tell anyone that he is a vampire, one reason is no one would believe him, and another is he didn’t think that Steve would be happy if he know he become a vampire not him. However, Steve found out Darren’s secret and wanted to kill him because he swore he would kill vampires before. He failed. Darren, had become a vampire, started an adventure with Mr. Crepsley. Reflection
I think it is an interesting story but a little scary. In the freak show, there was a woman’s arm bit apart from her body by the Wolf Man. It scared me. How could a show with the terrible thing happening? And, I like Mr. Crepsely most of all characters in the story, because I think that the way he chose his vampire assistant was amusing. Why he chose Darren, not Steve, who asked him, to be his assistant? When he refused Steve’s ask, he said that is because Steve has bad blood, evil blood. Did it adumbrate that Steve would be a murderer or a ghastly person? I think so. I would buy Book 2 to read, because I can’t stop myself from figuring out the following story.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding (movie review)
Toula worked in her parents’ restaurant. The only expectation of her parents was that Toula would get married with a Greek man, but Toula had no idea to get married even though she was already thirty years old. Her family thought that she doesn’t want to marry, so they always nagged at her. Tula was impervious until she ran into a tall and handsome guy in the restaurant. However, the man wasn’t attracted by Toula, who had featureless appearance. Because of the unexpected encounter, Toula made up her mind to seek her ambition. She decided to return to a university to take computer classes. After finishing computer classes, she wore contact lenses and new fashion clothes and worked in the travel agency of her aunt. Finally, she met Ian Miller again. He was a tall, handsome and chirming teacher of senior high school but not a Greek. They fell in love. In no time, Ian proposed to Toula and he had confidence in himself to solve all difficulties on their way of marriage. He did his best to get along with Toula’s a large amount of family members and he was successful at the end. It is hard to appreciate the background of Toula’s family. They insisted that they have to marry with Greeks, no exception. I am gratified to have been favored by luck having the wonderful life as far.

Mark Haddon: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (P.221)

Settings:
Christopher, at fifteen, has been attending a special school for most of his life, living at home with his father, a heating contractor who works long hours. Innocent and honest, he sees things logically and interprets the spoken word literally, unable to recognize the clues which would tell him if someone is being dishonest or devious or even facetious. “I find it hard to imagine things which did not happen to me,” he said.

Events:
When Wellington, the pet poodle who lives across the street, is stabbed with a pitch fork and killed, Christopher decides to solve the mystery and write a book about it. Using his favorite novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, as his model, he investigates the crime, uncovering man secrets involving his own family in the process. As he applies the lessons which Siobhan has given him for dealing with his overwhelming outside world, he also embarks on a most unusual coming-of-age story, and ends the book a much more mature 15-year-old than he was when he started.

Conclusion (ending):
Christopher’s difficulties with his emotions are particularly poignant. Removed from his feelings, Christopher can only respond with logic, or with the anger which sometimes overwhelms him as result of fear or frustration, and the readers, responding to his difficulties as any loving caregiver would, cannot help aching for Christopher and empathizing with his family. As Christopher investigates Wellington’s death, he makes some remarkably brave decisions and when he eventually faces his fears and moves beyond his immediate neighborhood, the magnitude of his challenge and the joy in his achievement are overwhelming.

Reflection:
Christopher Boone relaxes by groaning and doing math problems in his head, eats red-but not yellow or brown-foods and screams when he is touched. Strange as he may seem, other people are far more of a conundrum to him, for he lacks the intuitive “theory of mind” by which most of us sense what’s going on in other people’s heads. As the mystery leads him to the secrets of his parents’ broken marriage and then into an odyssey to find his place in the world, he must fall back on deductive logic to navigate the emotional complexities of a social would that remains a closed book to him. Christopher can only make sense of the chaos of stimuli by imposing arbitrary patterns. His literal-mined observations make for a kind of poetic sensibility and a poignant evocation of character. Though Christopher insists, “This will not be a funny book. I cannot tell jokes because I do not understand them,” the novel brims with touching, ironic humor.

（只因為他還沒做完他就覺得你怎麼好像沒事做，不然來幫我做我的部份好了。）－－幹麻不反省自己要提前做，不要每次都等火燒屁股了才在哇哇叫。如果妳再早一點要求我當然樂意幫忙，但你在當天報告的凌晨１點才在抱怨工作分量多，羞不羞恥ㄚ你。。。

第一次發現一堆人都自以為報告除了自己的部份就沒他的事，收拾善後什麼的都是其他笨蛋該做的事，如果這樣幹麻分組？不就是為了要同心協力嗎？還是你們這些自私鬼特地和笨蛋一組是為了利用別人？

第一次發現有人就是喜歡在寢室裡講電話講到對著手機大吼，或是大哭，整個比連續劇還扯～霹靂火都沒這麼嚇人。。。

第一次發現有人愛在讀書的時候放重音樂，還放的超大聲（是耳聾喔？）每次都大聲到我耳朵好痛。。。就算有人要睡覺，音量只會降到我認為的正常音量，難怪你會重聽，一天到晚噪音污染你不重聽我才覺得有鬼！！想吵人幹麻不一個人住阿？

第一次發現自己很白痴，每次都默默接受那些諷刺和無需有的罪名不回嘴，一心希望保持友誼，不過顯然別人當屁

第一次發現就是有人在你要求：＜我要睡了，請你將音樂關小聲。＞時，還理直氣壯的說：＜不是如果真的想睡，不管多吵都睡的著嗎？＞－－請問是每個人都跟你一樣像隻豬嗎？

第一次發現在這個地方生活很累很不舒服，我明白每個人都自私，我明白我也很任性，我明白我沒有比誰好或什麼的，我也明白我也需要別人的包容。

我只是很累了，想抱抱怨，想說說～

本來有打算整個ｂｌｏｇ都用英文的，不過。。很顯然的，用英文的話怨氣會更深～而且會轉換成無限的痛苦ㄚ～～
