Main characters:
James and seven insects (Old-Green-Grasshopper, Spider, Centipede, Earthworm, Silkworm, Ladybug, and Glow-worm)

Summary:
The whole story begins with James parents’ dead and he has to live with his two aunts, who were both selfish. They treat him very bad and always beat James for no reason and refer to him as “you disgusting little beast” or “you miserable creature”. One day, he escaped from his aunts’ punishment and ran off to the garden, and he met a mysterious, very small old man. The old man gave James a bag, which has a mass of tiny green things looked like little stones or crystals inside. The old man told him that the stones would work their magic upon whoever they met first. James fell with the bag, underneath the old peach tree in the middle of the garden, on his way back the house. The next day, the old peach grew as giant as a house, and James found there was a big hole in the wide of the peach. He crawled in and met seven insects who were as big as James. Latter, they cut the stem from the tree, and the giant peach kept rolling from the hill top to edge of the cliff and fell to the sea, they beginning an adventure. In the adventure, they met sharks and Cloud-Men, and they joined a party. The peach was surrounded by hundred of sharks, and James had an idea to escape sharks. His wisdom saved them from dangerous successfully. Finally, they arrived at America. The enormous peach stone set up permanently in a place of honor in Central Park and became a monument, and James and his friends begin their new life there.

Reflection:
The story is exciting and unforgettable. Someone treating the main character badly is normal story form, however, in this story it just as a source or a reason let James wanted to escape away to wherever having no his aunts. Apparently, James needed friends, he was so lonely. And, the opportunity showed that his friends needed him, too, is the time sharks rounded them. The idea of him is using a long silk string to loop one end of it around a seagull’s neck and tie the other end to the stem of the peach, then, going to get another seagull and do the same thing again and again. He let the earthworm be the bait to attract seagulls which are full of in the sky. The setting shows James’ wisdom and confidence between them. In the final, they got America which remarked as freedom. It is a meaningful end, because James had a big eager to have freedom when he lived with his aunts.
